Bananas are one type of fruit that is rich in minerals.

The following are the mineral content in bananas along with their uses:

Potassium

The first mineral content contained in bananas is potassium.

This potassium is contained in banana peels, which is about 42%.

This is the main reason why banana peels are widely used as organic fertilizers.

They are the highest source of organic potassium for plants

This potassium content regulates about 50 enzymes in plants so as to promote general plant vigor.

The potassium in banana peels can help strengthen plant stems, build resistance to pests and diseases, and can help plants grow to bear fruit and flower.

Phosphor

Another mineral content in banana peel is phosphorus.

Phosphorus is very important in germination and seed viability.

It will help the growth of roots and shoots properly, especially the roots of seeds and young plants.

The process of pollination is not far from the role of this phosphorus, it greatly affects fertilization, seeding, and flowering.

Phosphorus also serves as a raw material for the formation of certain proteins.

In addition, the phosphorus content in banana peels can make plants more resistant to drought.

Calcium

Calcium is the most important type of mineral in the soil known as the ‘carrier of all minerals’.

Included in the secondary macro elements, calcium has a very vital role in the physiological cycle of plants.

Calcium contained in banana peels functions as a constituent of plant cell walls that can stimulate the growth points of new shoots, leaves, and roots.

In addition, calcium can also regulate protein synthesis, and inhibit cell aging.

Let the banana peel soak for at least 48 hours to a week.

After soaking for a period of time, separate the water from the banana peel.

Then, you can water the base of the plant with the nutrient water dissolved in the banana peel.

Apart from banana peels, there are several other fruits that have nutritious skin, one of which is Apple Skin

Liquid fertilizer and fermented banana peel

To make this organic fertilizer is not much different from making a simple liquid fertilizer from banana peels.

The first step you can do to make it is to put a banana peel in a jar and then give enough water to submerge.

It’s a good idea to put weight on the banana peel to keep it underwater.

Cover the jar with a cloth and elastic band or loose lid and leave it for a week in a dry, warm place.

At the time of immersion, the good bacteria will begin to work releasing nutrients and minerals into the water.

You can mash the banana peel and save the water for other plants after a week.

You can also dilute the banana peel pulp in water to make it better spread to the soil.

Mix with eggshell and Epsom salt

This third method is useful for making additional nutrients to be sprayed on plants that are already in good condition.

The first step is to store 4 banana peels on parchment paper or a container.

Then, dry them in a food dehydrator or in direct sunlight.

Clean 3 eggshells and allow them to dry completely.

Grind together with the dried banana peels until they are completely powdered.

After that, put the powder in a spray bottle and add 1 tablespoon of Epsom salt and 1 liter of water.

Stir and shake first so that all the ingredients dissolve into the water and you can spray it on the bottom of the plant.

Frozen organic banana fertilizer

This organic banana fertilizer uses the unused part of the banana fruit unlike the previous organic banana fertilizers which used banana peels as the main ingredient.

Maybe you have leftover bananas or overripe bananas at home that you can use to make organic banana fertilizer.

The trick is to put the banana in a closed bag and freeze it in the refrigerator.

Ideally, sprinkle the bokashi grains into a sealed bag containing the banana along with the peel.

It helps speed up the microbial decomposition process occurs.

You can thaw the frozen banana before using it and add it to the soil around the base of the plant.

Use it as an addition to compost or worm farming
